for chronic pain

Mindfulness relieves pain and pain-related depression
In this study - a review (overview article) of 21 existing
clinical studies - scientists from Ottawa University Hospital in Ontario,
Canada, examined the extent to which the effects of cognitive-behavioral
therapy on chronic pain could be compared with that of MBSR.
Participants in the studies examined were approximately 2000
pain patients aged 35 to 65. They agonized from hurt due to fibromyalgia,
chronic back problems, rheumatism, osteoarthritis, and other diseases.
It was shown that both methods - cognitive behavioral
therapy and mindfulness (mindfulness-based stress reduction) - equally improved
the patients' physical functions, alleviated their pain, and were also able to
reduce pain-related depression.
We report here on how MBSR can be helpful for recurring
migraine pain. Even with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, MBSR can be included in
the therapy, as it improves psychological well-being and thus significantly
increases the quality of life.
What is mindfulness?

who offer MBSR or about courses in which you can learn MBSR (see the previous

In MBSR - often called mindfulness - different methods are
